D.I.Y. Trail Mix
Save money and make your own.
Feeding four kids comes with it’s challenges. All of my kids are picky eaters. They have been picky since the toddler stages. Snacks like trail mix are always a challenge for us. I love trail mix. I appreciate having a variety of snacks all rolled into one. Trail mis is my kind of snack. Until I grab the bag only to find it’s been picked through by all of the fussy eaters.
I came up with a solution to remedy that. We just make our own trail mix. I have everybody pick the different snacks they like. I head out to the grocer or the local dollar store and grab all the ingredien
Here’s what you need:
Sandwich storage bags
Snack size storage bags (for the littles)
A large bowl for mixing
I start with about a cup of each ingredient. Add to the bowl and mix. I always add more of the things that are like the best. It’s all about your personal preference here. Next use a cup or a scooper to load your mix into the storage bags. Zip them up and store them. Voila!!
Now you have trail mix that everybody loves. It’s easy to make. Every has the snack they love. No more bags with the leftovers that no one wants. Everybody is happy. My happiest thought is there is no waste.
Check out the video of us making an inexpensive trail mix for my toddler Josh here. I chose some of his favorites. The ingredients were purchase at our local Dollar Tree and Walmart.
